Settings & Places of Elatia

Buildings in the cities are tall, glassy spires constructed of minnica, a native, abundant mineral that comes in many different colors and is prized for its strength, wear, and durability. Everything from buildings to windows (clear minnica) to jewelry is made from this mineral. Think buildings that look as if they’re constructed from Carnival Glass here on Earth. The colors and rainbow effects are limitless. It’s flexible so earthquakes and high winds aren’t a worry.

Homes outside the cities are simpler, usually no more than two stories tall, and composed of minnica as well as blends of minnica and strips of Eletin stalks braided and woven into beautiful patterns. Although the braided stalks add strength to the minnica, it’s mostly for the beauty of the patterns shimmering through the smooth surface of the mineral.

Country homes are full of panels and dividers similar to traditional Japanese homes that display the braiding and weaving craftsmanship.

***Ship traffic is not permitted IN the Elatian cities. Only transpods and the use of either orokes or yeemids.

***All non-citizens must be quarantined for a full Elatian day (30 hours) to protect people from disease.

Elatia: actual planet

Hall of Elatia: A place where citizens can go for information when government or safety matters arise.

Havmiola: pronounced hav-me-ola, Elatia’s capital city.

Ela Sea: Elatia’s largest body of water.

Two suns: Elatia has two suns. A sun’s (aka star) color indicates its power or heat. Yellow, is the Earth sun and its size provides adequate heat and light for us. In another 500K years (per a science teacher), orange is the next phase of our Earth sun, so Elatia’s two suns are orange, but one is half a size bigger than the other, therefore closer to Elatia than the other. With the two suns, plant and animal life on Elatia is similar in many ways to Earth’s.

Moon: one large moon with a tiny satellite moon that stays in sync with it. The craters are extremely well defined and the moon has a deep orange-red glow at night due to the way light reflects off the orange suns. With a large moon, the tides are stronger and highly dangerous on Elatia, so homes are not built on the beaches, but they are within sight of the Elatian oceans and are constructed on very strong, tall columns of minnica.

Star Cycle: time measurement similar to an Earth year (all time—minutes, hours, weeks—are similar to Earth’s). Although different planets will have different year cycles, this term is a generic term for understanding between races like speaking UT so all races can communicate with one another.

Power source: Elatia uses two massive towers that generate power through the atmosphere. The power is used without cost to citizens. Think of Nicolai Tesla’s idea of providing electricity to Earth. ***Other planets may use this technique too.

Appearance of an Elatian: They’re relatively large people. Naturally toned and or muscled due to how they live so close to nature, believe in exercise as part of wellbeing, and from eating foods super rich in antioxidants. They’re skin is a soft gold, and possesses a natural glow or slight luminescence. Their coloring from the elbows to their fingertips and from just above the ankles down to their toes changes from gold to a warm bronze as if each individual had actually been dipped in bronze. Elatian’s possess eyes that vary from shades of pale gold to brown-black. They’re hair is coal black, but some may have softer brown hair due to intermarriage along their lineage. ***However, if they intermarry with other humanoid races, their appearance, builds, bone structures, etc., would have obvious variations.***

Food, Clothing, Misc.

Eletin: a plant found only on this planet that evokes a state of elevated sensation and feeling of well being. As such, it is a popular herbal supplement for those wishing to—among other things—enhances their sensual experiences. Eletin is harvested twice a year.

Veech: The Ela Sea provides an abundance of seaweed used for protein food, and when dried and shredded, it is a soft, absorbent fiber spun into clothing and household items such as towels and rugs.

Spiced eletin juice: Mild liquor made from the roots of the Eletin plant. The liquor’s aroma bursts with a combination of something earthy yet very floral and a hint of some sort of ground pepper. It’s fizzy, and the drink’s color is green with a slight iridescence. The liquor still enhances calm and sexual pleasure, but it’s mild due to the process it goes through to be fermented and turned into alcohol; however, inebriation from Spiced Eletin Juice is mild and is like a slight buzz. This drink is also used to aid in removing toxins from the blood.

Dodibar trees: Very tall trees with feathery, lime-green fronds.

Secpoc: Elatia uses Elatians only as security or police in the cities. Small secpoc outposts are in rural areas. The secpocs wear black suits. Minnica bands are used to arrest and secure those who cause trouble or do crimes.

Daimi: A male or female who oversees the household and makes sure everything runs smoothly from checking in with childcare employees to monitoring servants, kitchen help, etc. Usually only wealthy Elatians will employ a daimi. Other household employees answer to the daimi first and then the head of the family.

Animals & Pets
Note: these animals are only indigenous to Elatia. Except for tepitees, which cannot be exported, they are exported to other worlds.

Tepitee: a tiny animal with incredibly fine, puffy fur. They’re white, lavender, scarlet or black. A tepitee is no larger than a guinea pig, but their bone structure is so light and fine they feel almost weightless. They have no tails. Eyes are large in comparison to their bodies, round and flash different colors according to their owner’s mood. Ears are so small they appear non-existent. Whiskers are longer than their body and float around their heads like dandelion fluff. Essentially, they look like giant dust bunnies. They make various noises that sound like a cricket chirring but tones means various things such as soft is happy but loud and piercing is anger/fear.

Tepitees ride on shoulders, cling to sashes, belts, boot tops, etc. They’re personal pets that go everywhere with their owners if the person so chooses. These animals aren’t exported to other worlds because for some reason no one has yet to determine they always die in space transport.

Oroke: beast of burden or conveyance. Orokes are either brown or black with very short fur much like velvet. They’re blocky in build with short, thick necks and square-ish heads. Eyes are very large and black. They’ve developed this way because they’re so slow they rely on good eyesight to spot predators. Ears are long and pointed, but Orokes are easily trained and the super long hair that grows from the tips of their ears is used as reins. Their ears are sensitive, so this is why they’re so quick to obey tugs and pulls from their rider. If the hair is cut, the rider cannot control his/her oroke. Combine the image of an elephant with horse ears and a head and muzzle similar to a cow. Orokes aren’t especially intelligent, but are sturdy, hard-working, durable, and extremely strong.

Yeemid: Large bird used for fast traveling. They come in a variety of solid colors. They’re as tall as a typical human. Saddles for a Yeemid can be any style. Yeemids are guided by foot and hand movements on their necks and the wings. Riders sit between the base of the yeemid’s neck and wings; passengers ride on a single or double saddle behind the wings. Beaks are short and bright red regardless of their feather color. Feet are red too. Puffs of down surround the yeemids’ large, pale lavender eyes. These creatures are blind so they use sonar to navigate in the wild or at night when riders must travel.

Lunar margay: think margay, but huge, different coloring, and a thick mane of silky hair around its shoulders and a big tuft of the same hair at the end of its tail.  These animals have very large cone-shaped ears. They’re silver or lavender with dark sable spots. They’re eyes are silver with dark pupils and when they reflect light they look like big, shiny coins.

Bicbic bird: no description; reference only in launch book.

Omi berries: used in fragrances.

Flax spiders: spiders used to weave replacement hair and their silk is harvested for clothing, too.

Degrees of the Adamos

Four Echelons of Adamos:
Echelon one – novice, just starting out in the arts of pleasure.

Echelon two – established, knows enough to be paid for various services in their field of study.

Echelon three – experienced, and now working toward becoming a Master or Mistress, if they so desire to go that route.

Echelon four, commonly called Master/Mistress Adamo – those who oversee their field of expertise and aide/teach the lower echelons. Masters and Mistresses are recognized by splotches of bright color at each temple that often resemble stars, leaves, or flower blossoms of varying colors. This is only achieved once he or she takes the position of Master or Mistress and by taking eletin intravenously—the only time it’s taken in this manner—once it has been processed into a powder and then liquefied. It’s a drug reaction in the skin that is irreversible.

Planets in Elatia’s Universe i.e. the Belverian System

Belverian Alliance: the planets in the system that function under one government—however, each planet will have it’s own form of government that blends with the main Alliance laws. There are only a few worlds that do not belong to the alliance. The allied planets frown upon other planetary races/govs that still capture and enslave people.

Stell-Ery: no women permitted on this planet save for wives. Girl children are sent away at age five. Feather from Book 1 is from Stell-Ary. They’re humanoid, but the males keep their heads shaved, and the women wear theirs very long. Coloring is pale, so their nails, hair and eyes stand out drastically against their skin. Their nails are black, eye and hair colors are dark but vary in dark shades. The other unique Stell-Aryn quality is their small lower fangs and exceptional hearing with elongated oval ears. Two thin, dark pigment lines reside vertically on either side of the nose that resembles war paint.

Viktari: planet where women are revered as warriors, many trained for battle since childhood. A full-blooded Viktarian is large, their eye colors predominately blue and green, their hair blonde or pale brown. Viktarian women are warrior-like, too. Think Norse or Vikings.

Kanro 11: the last colonized planet in the Belverian Galaxy. The native peoples are short, stocky with dark eyes and hair that looks like veech; it’s coarse, lies in flat locks, and is black with a green sheen. The planet is known for a special silver ore that once smelted and purified the silver is exceptionally bright and highly prized throughout the Belverian System because it’s difficult to mine.

Deshmor-Vi: The people there are very tall, slender, long-limbed people. They look like albinos.

Keshkoht: They look like typical human beings except for cat whiskers in place of eyebrows and more fuzzy whiskers along each side of their noses.

***Ti-Ka Vei System is the next galaxy beyond the Belverian System. It’s reached by a wormhole where a small planet called Miti, was conquered by Cezzmots. Miti is just outside the wormhole on the Ti-Ka Vei’s side. The Cezzmots are people from the Ti-Ka Vei System. The Mitinites were so few they were easily conquered. Now, with a new home planet, the Cezzmots seek to capture echelons to begin their own eletin trade, and they also abduct warriors and anyone who they feel will be useful to control and defeat anyone who wishes to stop them. The Cezzmots are no more than a race of lawless mercenaries, thugs, smugglers, etc., bent on power, control and greed.

Cezzmot Appearance: big, hulking, humanoid people with three fingers, blocky teeth that are naturally dark as if stained by tobacco or ink. They have prominent brows that are bubbled and they wear a lot of leather, leather armor, too, and big, heavy boots. They’re brutes, crude, and the females are just as bad. Cezzmot’s anatomy is slightly different than those most humanoids. The positions of their heart and stomachs are swapped. Eye color is neutral from gray to black to almost white.

Evom Red Dwarf: one of many space ports i.e. a resting area for travelers who have been going long distances through space. Evom Red Dwarf is a halfway point between the planets Viktari and Elatia. Space ports such as this one go to the closest planets for long-term supplies.

Miti: see Ti-Ka Vei System entry.

Tiokvok: Tiokvokians lost their planet to an asteroid impact and borrowed money from the Alliance to build a space station for their government. They are scattered across a couple galaxies, but once each star cycle they embark on a pilgrimage to visit the space station, pay their taxes to their private government (maintains the station and helps their race with various things) and worship an idol of their god removed form the planet before it was destroyed. They’re humanoid but their skin is as black as obsidian with either bright yellow, bright blue, or bright red stripes similar to a tiger’s. They are bald, and their eyes are as black as their skin.

Otaria: A planet in the Petrogeous Galaxy. The inhabitants are humanoid with blue skin. Hair color ranges from gold to dark brown.

Tyto: Otaria’s moon. Inhabitants live underground and are originally from Otaria. Therefore, they look like Otarian’s. Leadership is a monarchy, with the parents of Aristides (from An Unexpected Return) as King and Queen. Farite is a precious metal mined from the rock and used for exquisite pieces of jewelry and in trade. Living underground, they cannot grow their own food and must import it.

Claustrum: A planet containing only a prison colony. Often used as a threat to misbehaving children in the Petrogeous Galaxy.

*Notes: Travel to the Belvarian system occurs through a space fold. Relations are tense between the Petrogeous Galaxy and Earth. The reason is revealed in An Unexpected Return.

Money & Other Units of Measure

Gecbagas: universal money that takes the form of transferable credits on high-tech worlds or traditional coins for non-tech planets of a valuable purple, iridescent ore found in moderate amounts on many planets throughout this solar system.

Worth: count by tens. One large gecbaga coin is $10K American or the equivalent in English pounds. Smaller coins descend in worth by size.

Star cycle: one Earth year.

Universal Ships & Conveyances

Note: each planet can have its own specialty ships & conveyances, depending on their technology or lack thereof. The following are universally used.

Space travel: There are various theories about how aliens travel through space via anti gravity propulsion. One such theory is Mercury Mass Effect, which I’ve used in the launch book.

Transpod: small device big enough for four people, used like taxis. It’s a disc-shaped platform that passengers stand on.

Mother Traveler or “Mother”: luxury cruise ships that navigate through space and dock at various planets. The Belvar Passenger System is the main travel company in this region of space.

Freighter: cargo/supply ships.

UT – Universal Tongue Words and Phrases

Atova: thank you.

Dotchk: you are welcome or my pleasure

Finiota: I am sorry

Finiota Kai:  My sincerest apology OR to express severe regret (used for serious matters).

Ovopa: It is forgiven or you’re forgiven OR it is in the past and forgotten.

Matishma: An Elatian endearment for a loved one, male or female, or an affectionate label for those many years younger. For example, an elderly woman would call a young woman matishma like we would say honey or sweetheart.

Wemotich: the UT term for saying ‘wench’ or if said with disdain or nasty sarcasm it’s interpreted as ‘bitch.’ Most commonly used with female slaves.

White gifts: blessings

Star’s speed: quick, safe journey.

Planet Viktari and the Femwar Life

NOTE: For authors who would like to base their character and background on Viktari and Femwar information.

Femwar: Female warrior trained for various battles and weaponry from the time she is five star cycles old.

Czwar: A femwar who has completed and won all her battles.

Viktari Liquors: the various alcoholic drinks on Viktari are nicknamed skull-splitters. They’re heavy, bold, take-your-breath-away liquors.

Femwar Laws:
First Law - The femwar who wins the final battle is recognized as a full Czwar and receives a furlough on the world of her choice.
Second Law - The Czwar’s trainer may claim her for her first coupling (she is always a virgin). This is his reward for training a prime warrior.
Third Law: The new Czwar may choose a mate.
Final Law: The Czwar learns of the last law when she is on furlough. This commandment reveals the path for her new life.

Creatures Femwars Battle
Frost beast: Black or indigo fur, similar to a saber-tooth tiger but they live only in the mountains of Viktari. They’re fur is prized, so it’s a high award for a femwar.

Cyclopian bear: Bear with one eye and six-inch claws. It lives in any wooded Viktari areas, so it’s very dangerous. Its fur is long, shaggy and any solid, neutral shades (no patterns).
